How are secondary schools structured in Tasmania?

Generally State high schools provide secondary education for students in years 7 to 10 and State secondary colleges, and the Polytechnic and Academy provide for students in years 11 and 12. State district high schools and some State (few) high schools provide 11 and 12 studies. Catholic and independent schools generally provide for years 7 to 12 with some providing solely for 11 and 12. Students enter secondary education in year 7.

At the end of year 10, students receive a report against the Tasmanian Curriculum Framework. Students can also apply for a Certificate of Participation which verifies their completion of Year 10 in a a State school. Students in years 11 and 12 work towards the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE). More information about this Certificate can be obtained at http://www.tqa.tas.gov.au/.
